G4S has but to file a defence with the court docket however stated its subsidiary, G4S Safe Options UK, could be defending the declare.

In keeping with court docket papers, G4S subcontracted its work on the Northampton facility to M&R Options Restricted, which trades as Nexus Nationwide Safety Community. G4S confirmed this in a separate assertion to the Monetary Instances.

VPS Group, which owns Nexus Nationwide Safety Community, declined to remark.

Within the court docket papers, which had been filed earlier this 12 months, ILG claimed {that a} doc containing entry keys to the positioning “had been left in an unlocked safety desk in the principle reception space”.

The claimant added that a minimum of one worker had “written down in a notepad varied key codes below his management and saved the notepad in his rucksack”.

These included codes for a lockbox, a facet gate for the worker automotive park and the HGV yard, which opened the principle gate to the loading space.

“ILG infers that the intruders obtained these Entry Keys because of a failure on G4S’s half to maintain them safe and/or to take all affordable precautions to forestall their disclosure,” the lawsuit stated.

The thieves gained entry in two separate incidents on January 7 2023, ILG stated. Within the first incident, an intruder breached the perimeter fence at about 5pm and accessed a lockbox containing entry keys “with out drive”.

Utilizing these, the intruder entered the principle reception, disabled the alarm and gained entry to the warehouse. Merchandise had been loaded on to a automobile, which left after 6pm, in accordance with ILG.

The second incident happened later the identical night, between about 11pm and 11.40pm, the claimant stated. Three intruders opened the outside yard gate and opened the lockbox. A patrol briefly attended at about 11.20pm, prompting them to cover, however after it left the criminals returned to the loading bay, the lawsuit said.

ILG stated in its lawsuit that it was “immaterial” to its authorized declare towards G4S if the companies had been subcontracted to a different firm. The corporate declined to elaborate on the court docket paperwork. Charlotte Tilbury declined to remark.
